Painting Fail

It was paint night at Kindermusik to prepare for our upcoming end of the year dinner. Our teacher wanted the kids to make some keepsakes to take home. We started with a hand print on a tile to use as a trivet. Next, she wanted the kids to do several finger paintings to be laminated and used as place mats at the dinner. I was pumped just knowing that Stella would love painting.

She started out in Daddy's lap. All is well.

As soon as we painted her hand to make the first print, she fell to pieces. We finally completed that project and then went to the second classroom for finger painting. She never wanted anything to do with the paint. Our teacher suggested that we try a paintbrush. The strokes you see were made by Stephen and I as we tried to coax her to give it a try.

I hate painting, Mommy!

She finally dropped the brush down twice to make these two marks on her second place mat. Hmmm... not exactly what we were looking for, but at least she did it.

These are the paintings from the rest of the class. :D

We had an abbreviated music class tonight. It didn't take long to cheer Stella back up because we got to use our egg shakers, her favorite!

Mommy, I'm more of a musician, ok?

Turkey Time

E's friend from work passed down a turkey swing to Stella. She was too small for it last year, but Stephen cleaned it off and got it out in the yard today. I would say that she enjoyed it!

Just her size. Side note: turkey hunting season opens this weekend. Daddy and E are more than ready.

Stella after a bath this evening. She just doesn't look herself with all of those curls combed out.

Concentrating.

Little Miss Independent. She insists that she does everything by herself.

The Simple Life

Don't you wish that we could be as entertained with simple things as adults?

I Love Chairs

Stella is very much into chairs. She climbs up into all of ours at home and drags her toys and a blanket with her. Even though she is such a wiggle worm, she'll stay in a chair playing for 20 minutes or so. I don't know what's with the obsession. Nene says that she stays in chairs at her house during the day, too.

Melissa & Doug make the cutest toys. Stella got several different ones for Christmas. She's holding the orange from her grocery bag fill and spill set and the little milk is sitting beside her. She is usually only interested in the real stuff. Remote controls, cell phones, and cookbooks are her current favorites.

She has also been playing a lot with her Baby Stella doll that Mamaw and Papaw got her for Christmas.

Stephen and I were watching a movie this afternoon while Stella played. We noticed that it was pretty quiet, so I went to check on her. She had pushed her little rocking chair back to the wall and was cuddled with her blanket and having some juice. I guess playing made her tired.

Welcome Sweet Springtime

we greet thee in song! (for all of the Andy Griffith fans out there)

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend. Yesterday marked the first day of Spring and a perfect opportunity for Stella to wear a new outfit. I love this!

Aunt Sis and I took Stella with us to see Masquerade Theatre's production of Hairspray. Stella slept through the whole first act, but really enjoyed the second. She bounced and jabbered to all of the music. Our friends did a great job! Zoe was a wonderful Tracey Turnblad!

This picture just makes me want to tune up and squall. Sweet baby curls. . .

Acrobatics

There is no picture proof, and definitely no video. . .

There was no time.

Today as I was cooking dinner, I stopped hearing the normal playtime sounds of Stella. I peaked through the door and caught her standing on the arm of Stephen's chair preparing to jump to the side table.

I wasn't able to stop it and she was unsuccessful. Thankfully, there isn't even a bump or scratch to prove this story.

What am I going to do? She is barely over one year old?!

Exhausted

Stella literally cannot sit still lately. Ants in her pants would be a large understatement. We went over to Aunt Sis's house tonight and she never slowed down. It was finally time for us to leave and she was asleep before we left her driveway.

Once we got in our house, I had to undress her and change her diaper. No movement.

Then I had to put her in pajamas. No movement.

Then I put her in the bed. No movement.

Yep. Exhausted.

Shopaholic

My mommy has been shopping again.

If you see her near a store, please call my Daddy.

Misc

This is a miscellaneous post of some pictures that I have taken on my phone the last week or two.

I can always count on Stella being partially undressed or holding something unusual every time I go to get her out of her car seat. Yesterday only one sock was off, but she was holding the sun shade. I didn't even hear her rip it off of the window!

I was going through some clothes to put in a consignment sale this weekend and noticed her bathing suit from last year. A 6 month still fits. She is so tiny. :)

I still love this onesie. It's one of my favorites. You can find one and other similar pieces at Sol Baby.

Laundry

Stella is a huge fan of laundry these days. I just wish that she was a little more helpful. She wants to pull all of the clothes out of the dryer and scatter them around the floor. The past couple of weeks, this new skill has filtered into her room as well. She pulls the clothes from her drawers and scatters them all over her room. If she is quiet for more than two minutes, you can count on finding her in a pile of clothes.

Who's Ready for Spring?

Because it's right around the corner. . . March already?

We took advantage of the nice day and let Stella ride in her Coupe.

It felt so nice outside today, it made me want to try some of Stella's new clothes on her for Spring/Summer. I LOVE this combo.
